![]() The ones mentioned by me consist of puzzles. So they're rather puzzle-games (see above). Myst is the most known example ot those games. The only adventure element in them is probably the story.

![]() and phantasmagoria is a typical sierra FMV-game
One of the last games at the end of the Adventure-boom (after that adventuregames lost its popularity and it is only now that the adventure spirit is slowly rekindling) It has a few adult topics in it (rape and such) but not nearly as much as phantasmagoria 2 (which was a disgusting game... more like an interactive porn movie with a depressingly insane plotline behind it... and its difficult to image the reputable Sierra company released it)

![]() its an actual word... quite a clever title
according to dictionary.com: Quote:
you can download the main theme (highly recommended) from here its the one called Consumite Furore. The game was cheesy at times but sometimes it was quite scary (in all its graphicness) There was a built in walkthrough... whenever you were stuckyou'd just click on a skull positioned somewhere in the interface of the game and it would tell you what to do. Some answers were rather sketchy like when you're outside the mansion it would tell you that "the house awaits your return" or "something is amiss in the observatory" but some were very much to the point. Ofcoarse during the two final chapters you usually had to act fast and didn't have the time to consult the skull. You'd also miss things that made the game much scarier. Like activating the Fortunetelling machine at the start of each new chapter (the 'fortune' told got darker and darker as the chapters progressed) There were a lot of things like that... small stuff that kept changing... like the painting on an easel that kept on getting moddifed throughout the game until it portrayed some kind of terrible dark abstract scene. I remember my parents bought this as a gift for me and my brother. I still have the box (7 cds) right next to me... its too pretty to store with the rest of the old games) Its a big soft black box (not sure what its made of... but it isn't cardboard or plastic) It has Phantasmagoria embossed on it in big silver letters I believe its a special edition of the game, because when I made an imagesearch for it I got pictures of a different (casual-looking) box

![]() Now back to Beneath a Steel Sky. I really enjoyed this adventure. I had some sound problems when running in DOS Box but with ScummVM it runs perfect.
It follows the LucasArts tradition perfectly and they made a great job with the improved interface. I'd only wish that the game would be a little longer. This plus a more surprising twist at the end and I would this game a 5, so it's only a very solid 4. But now i have the strange need to go out and weld something :bye:

![]() For all those who don't yet know, you can now get BTSS for free -- and it's legal, too! :Brain: So, now you have no excuse not to try out this wicked game.
The moment I heard the music in this game I got the shivers. That was by far my favourite thing about the game. |
