Well if I see a post in Slovene, German or Croatian I reply to it:

1) I translate what the person said.
2) If I know the answer I answer in both languages.
3) If I don't know the answer I just translate the question and wait until someone answers, then translate that into the other language.

And about online translators... I've tried a few - they were all crap (if one had to translate from French or Spanish into English - from Russian it works rather well, or I understood more to begin with...).

To understan how bad online translators are, type something in English, translate it to some other language, and then use that answer to translate back to English from that language. In the end compare results.

I use AltaVista's BabelFish, and Google translator.

Which one did you try?

At the moment only my dictionaries - don't trust anything else. I don't know Spanish, but I found a manual for the game La Fetiche Maya in Spanish - so I wanted to use the Babelfish, then the google, dictionary.com... in the end I took my electronic Spanish-German dictionary and did it the old fashion way - it finally made sense!

Imagine when guests starting to use strange language slang, or words like u instead of you etcetera. To translate texts online the text needs to be completely error and slang free.

The problem with different languages is not that we don't want them here it is that we have no control over the contents of them as we do not speak them.

Having enough moderators who are also active AND people we can trust is difficult nay impossible to achieve. These people are all volunteers.

Abi79 suggestion, although good, is unworkable for this very reason. I will look into the possibility of translating the troublshooting archive into available languages. This is dependand on the will of our dedicated translators. These people have enough to do already and I prefer that translating the reviews remains the priority. As I said before there is no shortage of sites who offer help.

We appreciate this feedback but this has been discussed before and the circumstances have not changed since. This is an english only board and thus it shall remain.

OK.

We should call it English then. (like English Amiga Board or EAB )

Thanks for explanation...

Is the version of the games available on the translated sited English or of the translated language. I would be very surprised if Kosta was to host a double of the game for each language.

Yet, you insist that those who have not the required english skills post in their language here while they don't even understand what they are doing in the setups, menus, and really understand what is happening in the games themselves? I don't think this make much sense to me.

You all talk like if someone who don't speak English is someone who is superior. I see people like that, on the internet, as people who have an handicap. They are the ones who don't make an effort, not the opposite. They have the site translated in their language because it really is better to actually learn and read big textes in their native language. I can easily understand that. However, when we get all those people together in a melting pot which is the forum, we just can't have them talk their own language. Nobody will understand what the others say.

Those are the people that have less luck, but remind me again, why did we even start to translate the site then? Then we can simply remove all the translated reviews and keep concentrating on english updates.

If even half the energy that has gone into translating would be transfered into reviewing we'd have half a year supply of reviews easily (I should know).

I type:
Hello. How are you today. I am very good thankyou.

Translate types (German):
Hallo.* Wie Sie heute sind.* Ich bin danke sehr gut.

Re-translates:
Hello.* As you today are.* I am thank very well.

Babelfish does the same.
