No, there is a Dos 7.1 bootdisk, as well as a Boot CD.

Seems like the site I got that stuff from is down, but if you like I still have both the Boot FDD and Boot CD images in my archive. Just PM me with your e-mail adress and I'll get to sending them to you.

Thanks! I'll PM you when I have the computer. Right now, I'm still browsing eBay. It's pretty heard to find a good machine right now.

Check if there is any computer parts market happening in your area soon - they seem to be the best place place to get both machines and parts for them (ie cheapest and with greatest choice), but there is no warranty that the parts will work.

If you won't find a machine to your specs, buy two for the parts and build a third out of them.

When I was buying mine I couldn't be choosy, since here it's hard to find about _any_ old PC for a reasonable price.
It ended with me replacing half of the parts with ones taken from my old 486 anyway - including the case and PSU (the case I got the machine is was ugly like hell and the PSU was on the verge of death).

Actually I'm not that confident about my technical skills, so I'll call that Plan B. I'm still trying to find a good machine on eBay.

Okay well if you are not using a 486 get about a p120 or p100 or p90.

A 486DX4/100 is about the ultimate CPU in 486 architecture.
Pentiums lower then 100 might be less efficient if the game or program doesn't use the 586 architecture (Pentium = 586). If you are getting a pentium, something within the 100-150 Mhz range will be good.

As for the "Plan B", building an oldschool machine from parts isn't hard. If you'll decide to do that - feel free to ask me if you encounter any trouble.

Well it's just that I broke two PCs already trying to transfer a motherboard.
And, yes - I will not do that again. I suppose you meant putting stuff like drives from one machine into another. but thanks for the offer k:

Yo guys, how about a new P4 laptop running DOSBox ?

Or a smartphone/PDA with DOSBox ?

Or how about a smartphone/PDA with a console emulator (SEGA,NES,SNES...) ? That sounds like a good idea....

The thing is, we want an authentic dos machine. A PC that is perfect for those games. One that does not need emulation

Win98, 4 PCs is no problem, I've broken about the same amount.
