Altho the new version looks even better then that, the only problem is with the new one, It seemed to have lost alot of gameplay the old versions had.

Maybe somebody can help me with a big problem:

Although I attack only ships and cities my country is in war with, my home cities start to open the fire on me while trying to sail back in the harbour! Does anybody know the reason for that? Could it be that the pirates I've captuerd and hold for ransom are a reason?

Too high fame inspire fear even in your allies and this can result in friendly forts open fire to your ships. But check that you got a friendly stance with them its rare when entering to neutral ports and few times it can be in allied ports.

Friendly ports firing at you? I can't remember such thing, and I was "infamous" most of the time. Haven't you attacked any ship or city of that nation?

No, not at all. The only thing I can imagine is that when my country makes peace with another I realize that too late and attack cities and ships. But I never attack my own nation!

Attack ypur nation´s allies is like to attack your comrades.
Edit, i dont wanna said that ports with friendly stance will shot but french dukes can with shooted from french ports is their stance isnt friendly.
There are some levels beyond infamous but is so hard to keep them that dont applies most of times.
Maybe i am missconfusing with Pirates gold

Ah of course. However you shouldn't think of any nation as "your own", you should be friendly to a country only as long as it's profitable. There's no link between your own nationality and the nations you'll be fighting for, except for the port where you start your new game. But of course you need to be friendly to at least one nation --and her allies, which change over time...

The Pirates! Gold manual mentioned "infamous" as the highest fame level.

My main problem is that i dont remember what item comes form Pirates gold, Pirates! or Pirates II. But if the manual said so the bug must be from someother, sorry.

No worries. Pirates! Gold is almost an exact remake of Pirates!, so I guess you're talking about Pirates II, which included many novelties. I never played that.
