Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary. All the major dictionaries have official abbreviations, and if you spend too much time reading books on lexicography, you actually start using them. And to make this sound even geekier: you can tell it's the OALD by the combination of colours on the spine. No other dictionary has that. It has had that look ever since OUP changed the name of the dictionary, I think (it used to be called Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary of Current English). The latest edition looks slightly different, though.

Now that sounded incredibly geeky, didn't it? Just don't mind me...:P

I do know that we have some kind of hyper-advanced-state-of-the-art-from-20-years-ago dictionary lying around somewhere, but I never heard OALD before. Although I have picked up the term "Oxford [blahblahblah] Dictionary" somewhere.

I forgot to post my photo of me with my t-shirt, so here it is.

Please excuse the long face, the picture been taken just after our RL medieval gathering of last weekend and I was very tired at that time.
