I can't seem to get past the part after the guy gets his head chopped off. My guy says " What just happened?" and then it stops. I also can't get the patch to work like some one mentioned above, I get the "incorrect paramiters" or whatever it says.

one more thing, what's the maximum points for strength, dexterity, and intelligence, i can't boost them up more than 25, is it the maximum they can get or is there another way to increase it?

That is indeed the maximum, as far as I remember. One trick to increasing your strength and dexterity right at the start, by the way, is to immediately attack Devon (the fellow who pulls you out of the sea at the beginning). He will not fight back or call Beren the Sorcerer, and being a game-crucial character, is immortal. Keep hitting him until your Strength and Dexterity are at a satisfactory level, and although he won't talk to you for the time being, later he will forget your nastiness and talk as normal.

That method indeed works but it is not impossible to go through the game without it. Ghouls are the main source of experience for me. If you have enough patience to save often, it shouldn't be the problem. But anyway, intelligence won't go up and the only two methods I know that work are reading and casting tons of spells.

Just go to the library in Tenebrae where Benthic is staying (in the beginning), find the shortest book and begin to read it again and again. Be sure to not abort the reading of the book with double-click but to "finish reading it" (it must have been a single click, I don't remember anymore). With some patience you should be able to raise your intelligence few points (best 20) which is actually also quite enough for the rest of the game, and the remaining points will come later through casting magic.

Man, this game is awesome. I remember that it was the first game in which I felt kinda desperate, specially cause it was supposed to make you feel like this: lost in a world that is not yours, where you don't even know what can make you harm. It's perfect.

I didn't feel desperate when I first started to play this game, but it certainly had a special, enchanted mood for me. Before I got this game I saw some screenshots of the beta version from the net, and the graphics of the game caught me like no game before. That was long ago, when I just began to discover the computer games, and this game is still one of my favourites.
There's no need to hack at anyone in the game btw. to increase strength and dexterity, all you need is just to go somewhere where no one would run by mistake before your blade, draw your weapon and begin to swing it with the right mouse click all the time. Takes time but makes you right in the beginning of the game quick and strong.

I always started the game with jumping like a madman in front of Devon- Sure, it takes as much time as any other trick, but I think "the sticky key" worked in this one. Go put the kettle on, and return some time later to return to your adventure.

I found a way to preserve your mouse buttons in Pagan, since you must constantly double-click to fight and so... Go to your control panel and go to accesibility (or something like that, it's the green guy in a chair) and then mouse. Enable the use and configure it so as it works when Num Lock is deactivated. Then, in the game, just press 5 in the keypad as if it was your mouse left button.

Doch, I know I am double-posting. Hope this isn't a grievous crime...

I found two great things in the net just today. One is a remake of Ultima 9 with the Morrowind engine. It is called Ultima 9:Redemption and the site is this one.

The other thing is this other site with an article (lack for a better word) about how Origin was swallowed up by EA. The Escapist - Conquest of Origin

Another thing that came to my mind was that I read somewhere someone said that character portraits wouldn't be necessary with the high-resolution of Pagan... But how can they expect us to notice anything from those 9 pixel height faces? The only thing I managed to discover about facial expressions is that Devon's eyes are blue.
