Well, about the copy protection and ScummVM.

I downloaded the game just to play on it.... butttttttttttttttt ! the copy protection crack doesn't work on ScummVM.

So sad..

Who can help us with a scan from the page on the manual ?

The floppy disk version of Future wars has a bug, the guard will always detect you regardless of when you use the invisibility pill. It is impossible to complete the game with this version.
A CD-ROM version of this game was released later, distributed by Sony Electronic Publishing , it fixed the bugs has more animation and excellent music and sound effects. Most recommended! (around 14 megs)

Hmmm...

We need that version, FAST!! NoBug + Better GFX + Better Sound/Music.

Yes, you are. You need to stand in the just the right spot under the cassock. Keep trying and you will get it!

ok, I played this game as a very young kid with my mom on Atari 520 ST
, and then once more 1 or 2 years ago, probably the PC version, it was a file I got off of an abandonware site much like this one here.
Completed it both times.

The part you are talking about, I think I remember quite well, cos I spent some time figuring it out...it has been said earlier, it's all a matter of making run for the escalator when the spaceport personnel( probably that secretary, if this guy up there says so, I can't remember that well) is busy. Keep an eye out for their behaviors.

I doubt a bug is at stake.

The invisibility pill has nothing to do with this part. It comes in the last part of the game where you need to make a run from the inside of a ship to behind some boxes. That's where you use it.

Another thing, now, a question, What is this about a CD-ROM version release ? Has this been confirmed ? I would very very much like to see an enhanced version of probably my favorite point-and-click adventure of all times...If you have any info, thx for sharing.

Another thing, now, kind of a question : If you take a look at this site, you can find 13 different tracks for this game's soundtrack( which has to be the perfect game soundtrack ever, fitting for such a game), including one which is some kind of remix(It's really good, I heard it before) AND a track simply without name...

Lucky me, I have the other eleven tracks, the ones with names...and I heard the remix before, just can't remember where I'd found it...so I'll be on the lookout for it....
I am puzzled, though, with this 13th unnamed track and was wondering if maybe you had some insight.

Last but not least, I still have my manual from the Atari Version, I could provide scans of the colour coded images...
It just consists of 4 or 5 images in the manual, and a transparent sheet which you would superimpose on one of the images.
I am aware it is a different copy protection system on other versions, but I also have on the cover the main image of the character's feet...don't know if the colors are right, though...
So there you have it, if you guys want it I'd be happy to scan it all

Oh, and I have Loom's manuals as well (Floppy AND CD Version)

Hope I helped, if not sorry.
Later !

hi

after beating this stupid "drive a: saving" problem (thanks to this thread), i finally got the game to run, and had high hopes.
after an hour playing i must admit that i'm disappointed. ok - let's see how the story (and too easy puzzles - even for me <_< ) continues.
but the gameplay is terrible. the inventory-popup-menu is something i try to avoid in windows via tools and terrible to use. the examine-function - similar to the one in the first indiana jones game (i.e. you have to press examine to see all on-screen-objects, allthough there are not more in the game, than you can use for progress - no exploration - so no use for this function) is really annoying. and last but not least: you have to navigate the hero around objects by wild clicking. no chance that you click on the ground and he goes right there (especially annoying in the swamp at the beginning).

so i hope it's getting better, or the story really will be something good, otherwise i warn everyone to avoid this game //gameplay-loser

Yes, please! I'd prefer to be able to run this game in SCUMMVM.

Is this game SCUMMVM compatible at all? I got it to run perfectly in DOSBox.

Yes it is, as of v 0.10.0 it is supposed to be completable, albeit with some graphical glitches.
