The ranged weapons, especially the crossbow Valkyrie, are nice to increase the rogue levels though. Once in castle Cimmeria, there's a chest on the second level that'll require rogue level of 7 or higher to pick, so you'll need one character that has either all 7 levels or 5 levels + jade necklace + battle axe Master.
