My experience is that boats are usually good to transport oil from rigs, so usually only in the later part of the game. If you want to get REALLY rich without cheating, try busses from town to town and see how quickly the towns grow. When the towns are big enough try Yate Haugans (over VERY long distances) or trains (over slightly less distance). The busses let the towns get so big, and the additional transport from planes or trains let it grow even further. In the end you'll see that the passengers will be the ones that really make the money. In the beginning though it is good to start with coal because that's the easiest money when towns are still small.
Oh and the AI in "hard" level is still very easy to leave behind if you do things the right way. But nevertheless it's a brilliant game and despite the fact that it's very easy it still gave me hours and hours of great fun.

Hi Norwegian guy!

It of course depends on your computer. I have a slightly new one with XP and got it to work easily like this: First you download the game from abandonia, then you unpack everything in some directory. Then you'll see a directory "Transport bla bla" and a readme file and a "Runme!" file. Run the Runme! file and then you can start Transport Tycoon Deluxe.exe in the directory "transport bla bla". You first don't see anything, but then, after a while you hear the sound. The screen is still black but if you press "enter" you reach the main menu and you're ready to play. Good luck!

You either take a Tanker for oil, or take the goods transport and refit it for whatever you need to move. You can also refit aircrafts to move goods.

[font=Impact]I know that there is a cheat that you build a huge tunnel and it gives you money instead of
uses money when you build it at the edge of land to the other side at water level but ive tried this and i cant get it to work, how exactly does it go?
[/b][/quote]

As said before the patched version seems not to include the money trick with the extremely long tunnel, but if you still want to make easy money (very easy, that is, although it's not as much), try buying 75% of each starting competitor (even if you have to loan more money for it), then wait until they make something out of their company and see how their value rises. Once you think their value will not rise anymore, sell your share in the company. This usually gives me around 100% profit in less than a year for each company. Sometimes, especially if your competitors are any good, the profit can be huge! Remember that money devaluates quite quickly in the later part of the game, so don't wait too long. Good hunting!

Or restart your computer. The changes will not take effect until Windows read the registery again... Which mean at startup.

As for the problem "it's not working" (on WinXP): I had to create a .bat file with the following content:
Code:
SET LANG=German
"Transport Tycoon Deluxe".exe
(of course, you can also set it to "English" or something, it's just that TTD doesn't recognize alternative language codes like "en" or "de"). Now it works fine - except I wasn't able to save last time
