![]() aDnD 2 was in use for:
6 years to v2.5 (1989-1995) 5 years after that (1995-2000) 11 years total. source considering they had to release 3.5 in just 3 years, It's a surprise it took them this long to release their next installment. |

![]() Differences from 2nd and 2.5 editions are very small therefore you could say it lasted for 11 years. And the core rulebooks stayed the same for 11 years while in 3rd and 3.5 editions rulebooks were different.

![]() I have to say that I think that the change from 2nd to 3rd edition was a major one, and a good one.
I'm not so keen on d20 taking over the world though (eg, Call of Cthulu is now d20 based, which doesn't really suit it) and the Open Gaming licence, etc is dodgy. From what I've seen of 4th edition, the changes are not that great, mainly just streamlining of the current system and it smacks of dumbing down/just releasing a new edition to get everyone to buy the new core books. Anyone ever played Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay? That's an incredibly fun system to play, I thought. |

![]() I've read in Gaming for Windows that the new AD&D system is going to take inspiration from successful MMOPRG like WoW, for example...
I don't really understand what that mean, but it doesn't sound good. |

![]() Yeah, it's not good, maybe because all MMORPGs inherently suck.

![]() Nah, they don't. I remember a few MMORPG which I liked. WoW, for the modern ones, and a few Muds which were wonderful.
However, how would you translate that to AD&D? Maybe they are mainly looking to find a rock/paper/scisor which don't inherently create one race/class combinaison as dominant or utterly weak... |
