![]() Thank you very much for your help. Before I read your message, I dl'd ufo on my windows PC at work and checked the files: same result as you. Looking at most of the file names, I think I've identified which is which:
Main xcom folder: two files * dP_¿]__ò_________0_ (Unix Executable File) = dos4gw.exe * - (Unix Executable File) = intro.exe runexe folder: one file * runexe folder with one file: a Unix Executable File called - = run.exe ufo2exe folder: one file * ufo2exe folder with one Unix Executable File called - = tactical.exe ufoexe folder: one file * ufoexe folder with black.exe and one Unix Executable File called - = geoscape.exe The only ones I'm not 100% sure on one the first two because there are two of them, but as the first starts with 'd', it may be the dos4gw. Tonight when I get home, I'll rename the files. I'll post here how it goes. I know from the dosbox comments under UFO: Enemy Unknown that a few other OS X users have had trouble in the past, so if this works, I'll direct them here and hopefully, if this works, other users can follow this to a solution. Thanks so much again for your help. I'm learning a lot here. |

![]() I tried renaming the files: still doesn't work. Then saw your post and checked: the file sizes are different. They're only 188 kb and 64 kb. I'm assuming the files were corrupted when I put them on the mac. Tomorrow I'll check the files on my PC at work, and maybe see if I can transfer, but I have the feeling that OS X has some problem with the file types. I'll give it one last shot to see if that works, but after that, I think I'll surrender.

![]() maybe you could rename them with any random name without exe extension and after transferring to mac, naming them the right way

![]() X-Com now works on my Mac! Yea!
r.u.s.s.: I can't thank you enough for your patience and for all of your help. I unzipped the file on my Windows PC at work, then put it on my USB chip and brought it home. It loaded up with no problem. I think the errors probably happened when the Mac unzipped the file. Advice to any other Mac users who are having this problem: Unzip on a PC and then transfer the files to your MAC. All should work then. I didn't have to do anything special to it: it just worked. Again, r.u.s.s.: your help has been vastly appreciated. Thank you. Most Sincerely, Crispy ... 'scuse me now while I go play! |
