Oof, looks like credit is being given for stuff other than quizzes now... Ah well, my short time near the top was fun anyway.

I hope they aren't finished attaching games, reviews etc to users yet. I seem to be a little disconnected at the moment. Was Geezer when we could have an alias screen name for the forums that was seperate from the user name. But that is another problem and another topic. |

Last time I spoke with Kosta about the pieces of hearth (in the beta testing), he said that the VIP status always been intended as some kind of reward for those who are helping the site going, and not as a vacation resort for old contributing members who hardly ever even visit the place anymore like it unfortunatly is right now. The VIP private forum been deserted for a loooong time now.
When it will be fully implemented, this system will automaticaly upgrade those who are high enough to VIP status and downgrade those who didn't do much in a while or plainly stopped visiting the site or stopped helping out. Since I didn't do much in updates and reviews, and that the system is unlikely to keep track of forum use and my help in the troubleshooting forum, I expect to lose my VIP status shortly after it's implemented. The trivia on the main site it probably my only way to stay competitive... |

Forum support should count. You weren't the only person who ever got the VIP status based on the help they offered around the forum. The problem is, that can not be automatically, so I don't know how it could be implemented. It's "easy" enough to make a script that will check the name of the reviewer or translator and give some credit that person's way, but it's impossible for a non-human to read the post and judge if it is helpful or not and give credit for a post helpfulness. Still it shouldn't be overlooked. Not that I'm saying you (or anybody else) should automatically be a VIP, but being helpful on the forums should count (after all forum is the community and Abandonia is community based). |
