To a close degree of approximation, if your entire party is currently level Y and wish to train your entire party up to level X, the amount of gold you will need is: 20*X^3 - 20*Y^3 So to train from level 1 to 100 (X=100, Y=1) takes about 20*(100)^3 - 20= 20 million gold! The exact formula happens to be 10*(2X+1)(X+1)X - 10*(2Y+1)(Y+1)Y When I want to get to really high levels, here's how I do it (quoting myself from earlier in this thread). This is the fastest real time way I could find, although it takes a lot of game time: Interest rates on Xeen are very good. You'll inevitably run out of money for training in the late game- if you kill Barkman, though, that should give you enough gold to train to at least level 50, which can get you through Darkside (particularly the Great Pyramid where there's a huge treasure pile) and then the Dragon Tower where there's a lot more treasure. Then (probably before you go to the Dragon Clouds) just put all of this gold in the bank and go work (Castleview/Rivercity/Vertigo, I think) for the next 25 (or so) years. 25 years multiplies your money by about a factor of 15, and 50 million gold (which you won't have any trouble accumulating with this strategy) is easily enough to train all of your characters to level 120. Aging penalties start around age 35, but don't kick in a second time until about 50, so you'll only have a few stats go down with this strategy. This sure beats endless trips to the Gemstone Mines, or enchanting and selling items all day! It was particularly amusing that I had so much gold left over that I could pay the 4 million gold in the Southern Sphinx to be protected from the traps and then walk right through them. If you don't use this trick, the game doesn't take much game time at all to complete (so you can afford to spend a lot of years working to accumulate gold since you really won't age much besides when you use this trick). I think the primary reason people take a lot of game time is that they don't realize that going to shops takes a day and/or they rest when they could just visit fountains (Vertigo/Rivercity being the easiest) to restore sp/hp. If you're judicious about not going to shops often or resting, the game is very quick. Also, aging penalties at 35 are very mild- something like -2 physical ability scores, +1 mental ability scores. Then you don't suffer any more aging penalties until around age 50. I'd trade -2 physical ability scores for +40 levels of training any day. |

![]() And let's not forget that lvl 100 is enough for just about everything, including the mega dragon.

![]() Unteresting that the page for WoX states this can not run on XP. I have this game off of my 3.5 by copying all the files from the disks into one directory and running the install. I ran the patch for the game and tweaked the sound settings. NO problem what so ever getting this run perfectly in XP - without DOSbox !!
BTW I have both cluebooks for the game. If anyone needs help post here and I will try to respond. Good luck. I'm back to finishing this game for a 3rd time!!! |

![]() I did a little testing recently and concluded that the Xeen Slayer Sword bypasses the resistance to physical damage of every creature in the game that I could find. This makes it ideal for taking down the creatures resistant (e.g., the Megadragon or Dragon Mummies) or immune to physical damage (e.g., the ghosts of Winterkill and the elementals on the planes of Air and Water). And, of course, you can get more with the "I Lost It" code at a mirror portal.
Also, you don’t have to kill the regular Lord Xeen in Castle Xeen to beat World of Xeen—you can kill one of the Lord Xeen’s in the Dungeon of Death instead and that will get you the Scepter if you don’t already have it (of course, if you aren’t using the I Lost It cheat you’d still have to build Newcastle to get a Xeen Slayer Sword to kill the Lord Xeens in the dungeon. Normally you have to beat Lord Xeen in Castle Xeen in order to touch the 6th mirror to get the Clouds victory ("an invisible force protects the mirror" is the message you get if you try to touch it without defeating Lord Xeen via some sneaky teleport tricks). However, the force field is no longer there if you have the Scepter, which you can also get by beating one of the Lord Xeens in the Dungeon of Death. So if you've done this then you can teleport behind Lord Xeen in Castle Xeen, touch the mirror, and get the Clouds Victory. Even more amusingly, Castle Xeen doesn't disappear when you get the Clouds Victory so if you do that, you can go back to Castle Xeen after the ending sequence and Lord Xeen is still there! |

![]() The Xeen Slayer Sword is in fact extremely powerful when fighting the damage resistant monsters.
I did a little weapon testing with the mega dragon and my level 255 solo ninja. Rounds needed to defeat the mega dragon (64k HP) depending on weapon: Obsidian handaxe 38 Obsidian halberd 37 Obsidian trident dragon slayer 13 Xeen Slayer Sword 5 |

![]() I did a little further testing with the magadragon, here the results
Fists ~600 Club 45 Halberd 44 Ruby dagger 43 Platinum halberd 42 Sapphire flail 41 Diamond handaxe 40 Obsidian handaxe 38 Obsidian halberd 37 Obsidian trident dragon slayer 13 Xeen Slayer Sword 5 - a fully buffed barbarian (level 305+level 255 day of protection) could take out the megadragon in 3 hits with the xeen slayer sword. - with optimal preparation you can survive more than 170 rounds with the megadragon - x3 weapons are great since the x3 applies to all bonusses. A simple glass club dragon slayer would have been more than twice as damaging than any obsidian weapon. - at high levels it doesn't matter how lousy your weapon is, the damage difference between obsidian flamberge and nonmagical club is only about 20 percent - it's important to wield a weapon, no matter how poor it is, it's still far better than using fists. |

![]() Has anyone tried to download this game recently? It takes a ton of time (at least for me) to get to the "Get It" screen and then once I click on Get It, it times out and I get nothing. Any ideas? Running XP and Firefox and no luck.

![]() Just for the record, I found this site yesterday and managed to download the game just fine, and got it working (as seems common, I had to run the install.exe and set the sound to Soundblaster Pro). Now I can run the game just fine through DosBox.
I noticed none of the NPCs have speech... is that possible to get? I know they all did when I last played this, but I played on a CD-ROM version for the Macintosh. Did later PC versions also have speech? If so, does the copy on this site have it, and I just need to tweak settings, or do I need to find a copy (for example, I have a M&M Millienium Collection lying around somewhere)... Better yet, could we get an upload of a version with speech? |
