Outside of Seb and a few others there is a ways to go in properly crediting pieces of eight to the contributors of reviews. I knew they are trying to attract contributions by issuing pieces of eight. Kind of silly to look at it as a competition, don't you think? Especially when it is unclear what pieces of eight and VIP status are going to mean.

i dont think its silly.. you dont have to compete in order to gain something, it's just.. competition. i wonder whether you'v ever played football with friends if they didn't offer you anything if you win=S well but then again, if you don't like it, don't do it. nobody 'd mind

Don't do what exactly? Play the screenshot quiz? I can understand the quiz as a way to test your knowledge of games (and I will play it for that reason) but so far the pieces of eight thing seems pretty meaningless. It has nothing to do with whether I like it or not.

What pieces of eight should be is a way to recognize people who have contributed and are instrumental in keeping the site going. That part I agree with.

I was a VIP back in the days, and it means that you feel good and can brag. You have also access to some special games, but you mostly don't download them - they are there to give you the good feeling of being able to download them, not to do it. :cool:

i dont see it as a way to test somebodys knowledge.. maybe something to make the site more lively, and also 'active member' factor. who's very active and hoogs on abandonia everyday to get the quiz right he gets points, that's the competition. and if somebody uploads or reviews a game, he gets extra points

I only occasionally check my pieces of eight, and I only occasionally answer the daily quiz, and I only occasionally get that right.

Yet, I have around 200 pieces of eight, which seems to be crazy. Anyways, I don't see the point of it anyhow.

And _r.u.s.s. is right, doesn't work a test of anyone's knowledge, since I think I got my crap out of thin air.
