Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 500 by 100 pixels or 9.8 KB.

Avatars

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB.

It's likely that size requirements are reversed, it's hard to create a nice signature with 9.8KB.
