I think Commander Keen in still sold (though not Dreams, as far as I'm aware).
They sell the games through Steam.

Does that mean you're impressed?

1,4 and Dreams are freeware, right? They were years ago. 2,3,5 and 6 were sold.

Yeah..
But now after they have start selling them on Steam, i'm afraid it isn't Abandonware any longer...
But i'm no expert, let's just wait and see what happens out!

Also about the 1 and 4 game has become freeware, i can't remember..

Sorry, I think I was using "freeware" incorrectly. I should have been saying "shareware".
I think 1 and 4 were always shareware, as distributed by ID, and were hooks for the sequels in the series. You didn't have to purchase them.

I've not looked on Steam, but I can't see how they would be able to sell 1 or 4 unpackaged with their sequels.

Let's analyze the facts, shall we?
Fact: 3D Realms offers Commander Keen 1 and Commander Keen 4 as free downloads.

Fact: Both of these constitute complete games in and of themselves, rather than demo versions. They were intended to hook the player into buying the following episodes, obviously, which doesn't mean the player had to.

Fact: It was OK to copy the shareware games for others to play.

Fact: Free status trumps sold or protected status.
If the game publisher (or whoever current copyright owner is) releases it as freeware or public domain, it's one hundred percent legal. Same would technically apply to self-contained shareware episodes.

It is clear that both titles are sold as part of the collection on Steam. It is at the same time clear that both titles are still being offered free of charge by one of the copyright owners.
If 3D Realms removes the downloads of these episodes from its site, then those would be unsafe (as that would indicate they indeed do not want the games distributed). As long as they do not, both games are technically safe even though still sold.

Your turn again. Shall we remove the undesirables also?

I came across a site (http://www.flightsim.com/arcanum), where Nels Anderson, the author of a few of the programs I've listed, appears to be selling his software. The site seems to be old, and there is no indication that it has been updated for some time. I have initiated contact with him via email to determine the abandonware status of his games.

Until then, the following programs are retracted from the list:
Mahjongg
Mahjongg - Dragon's Bane
EGATrek (already uploaded)
Super Fly (already uploaded)

It would appear there are a couple of us editing the list at the same time, so we're wiping each other's edits. Sorry about that. Whoever edited last had placed a number of updates there, and I apparently wiped them. Oops!
