I never registered, since I visit when I want to listen to some precise category, and then I use the "similar" feature or tags etc. But lately I've ended up listening a lot to surf rock or Link Wray et al.

when you register, you can scrobble all the songs that you listen to on your pc so you have a nice list of stuff that you like. then you will also get better recommendations from last.fm that would suit your taste more

Those old garage bands radios have been pretty safe but once I start to move up the decades I find fewer and fewer reasons to trust that radio. Still, found a great deal of real good songs by (to me) unknown bands.

I never registered, but used to listen to it a couple of years ago at my workplace. What I really loved about it it's that it made me discover new band that I loved. Thanks to last.fm I discovered Ayreon I cannot recommend him enough
