![]() Below is the text for Koei.cfg file one can use to run this game on a Celeron D PC using Windows XP 2nd Ed. The mouse, sound, and speed (using Ctl-F11 & Ctl-F12) run just fine. Will transmit more 'tweaking' later.
Remember to have this .cfg file located in the directory where DOSbox is located. Then all one has to do is mount location of the Celtic files are located using the 'MOUNT' command in DOSbox and then go to (your drive letter here): command and run the batch file {example >>C:Koei.bat} Below line here is a 'tweaked' Koei.cfg file contents: __________________________________________________ ____________________________________ # This is the configurationfile for DOSBox 0.72. # Lines starting with a # are commentlines. # They are used to (briefly) document the effect of each option. ![]() for anyone who still has problem running this with dosbox.
mount to any other drive letters other than A or B. for example: Code:
mount c c:\balor that's it. no need to change configuration. |

![]() Hi, the game used to have proper sound effects when I played it a while ago (on Win95), like walking sounds, proper battle clashes, chopping wood, hurling... doesn't feel right without it. can anybody help?
I run it via dosbox now, runs fine, albeit bit slow. The music is like it used to be, but the sound effects are rubbish... Is it the game version? Hope someone can help. Thx! |

![]() you need to press ctrl+f12 in order to speed up your dosbox. ctrl+f11 slows it back down, in case you went over the limits of your pc (then the game will be even more choppy). so just fiddle around with cycles and see what works best
OR simply change your core to auto and cycles to max, that will try to run dosbox on best speed possible for the crappy sound effects- look for a file called setup or install or something like that and set sound blaster as your sound device

![]() Thanx, but I think it's no speed issue (the music is normal, but the sound effects seem like adlib or something). I tried every soundcard and speeds, too. maybe the game just sounds like that under dos...? do you hear noise when entering a tent, or yawning when taking a snooze?

![]() i mentioned how to increase your speed because you said that the game runs a bit slow
i hear sounds when i'm walking but no sounds in tent btw are you sure you are running the same version as on win95? it's possible that they've been ripped from this

![]() I'm having trouble once I have more than one province - how do I go back to my original province to manage it? I've tried pulling up the map button on the bottom left and left/right/anything-clicking on the other province (nothing happens), and I've tried just about every bit of the interface. Council and other subwindows don't help. Anyone able to tell me how it's supposed to happen?

![]() Perhaps if you were a bit clearer about what you like in Balor, and don't like in the other KOEI titles?
