actually dosraider was right,
Portman, you've run setsound exe and set the sound to some digital sound or whatever, considering that the game has been ripped of the speech the game can't find it

so run your setsound.exe again and set no digital audio

also.. pick creative labs sound blaster or 100% compatible for music, whoever uploaded the game set general midi, which sets the output to windows default midi mapper, which also produces horrendous sounds

Also:
Don't run the game from c: with c:\shannara\shannara as input, won't work.
do a

cd shannara
shannara

*If* you ran setsound or install, I would advise:
delete the shannara folder and start from scratch.
The game works really fine 'as is' out of the archive with nothing altered.

[quote=dosraider;366210]Dosboxconf looks good.
Still missing some detailed and relevant info:

Inputs?
Add:
Did you ran setsound or install by any chance?
OS?
What unarchiver did you use?

Also:
do a cd shannara and a dir /w and post a screenie.
Screenies are taken with CTRL+F5 , you'll find it in
\progarm files\dosbox-0.72\capture\

I'm using Windows XP SP3, and for unpacking archives Winrar 3.80 and Winzip.
And yes, i did run the setsound executable - was it a mistake from my part? All my other dos games just work fine under dosbox without any errors.

Yes, that's the screw up.
Read my last post, delete the shannara folder and start over from scratch.

Most games on AB will run fine out of the archive, they are pre configured to run in dosbox.
