Followed all your steps, but I just get some kind of screensaver and then it exits to dos mode again...

It's not just the info screen? At the bottom line it says "Press any key to continue"???

It's not a good idea to mount to c:\. Create a new folder like "oldgames" and move the game folder there (you'll have c:\oldgames\BGF). And it's even better to use your user folder (especially if you have Vista).
The mount line would be mount C C:\oldgames
c:
cd bgf
runme

And you can add the bold lines to your dosbox.conf file under this text:
[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.

Then you don't have to write that mount line everytime you start dosbox.
