A bad scratch on a bad place on the CD could make the installation faulty.  |

 That's weird like hell. Try reducing the amount of memory available in DOSBox to 8 mb (memsize=8 in dosbox.conf) and running LOADFIX before you start the game. Also check if the sound configuration used by the game is consistent with the soundcard emulated by DOSBox.
