I just did a net search and Wael is right. The painting was done by Mikhail Vrubel. I really like the creator's face...he has an authentic, non-human look about him and a sweetness - almost an innocence. I wish it wasn't a demon, though. They're definitely not our friends.
Edit: After a second look, I can see something else in his expression - a beligerence and a craftiness. I guess that's the brilliance of the painting, you can read so many things into the creature's demeanour. |
