Also it seems you simply can not use Laser Rifle well. Plasma Rifle is only better in theoretic, as it is slower, and has terrible aim. With Laser Rifle aim for the eyes, and you can spit on any armor after they melt. By the way Hunting/Sniper rifle are only for long distance, when you try to shoot something close they have terrible aim. Not to mention they do pathetic damage. |

![]() Properly built, small guns character is definitely best. 10 luck (I think 7 or 8 at start and buff it up with various stuff), Sniper perk, 10 agi (again, buffed up later), Bonus Rate of Fire perk, and maybe some Action Boy perks. It gives you extremely high rate of fire, every hit even with burst is critical equals massive damage...use P90 for very fast kills and Gauss Rifle for sniping...and everyone can just bow down and die.
Since small guns are available from start and are possible to buff to 90 or 100% purely with books, you'll become killing machine very quickly while still retaining enough points to specialize in other stuff too. Last edited by Sarin; 05-01-2011 at 05:06 PM. Reason: Added some stuff |

![]() The "best" character looks like this:
ST 3+6 = 9 PE 8+2 = 10 EN 2+1 = 3 CH 7+3(-2) = 10 (8) IN 8+2 = 10 AG 8+2 = 10 LK 7+3 = 10 And 4 free point to spend between charisma and endurance depends on wether you want Mark II implants or not. Traits: Gifted, Small Frame Tags: Energy weapons, Speech, Unarmed, Lockpick (slight variatons can be done) Shooting down 4 enemy per round is more then enough, no need to swap weapons between close and sniping range. In enclave no fight is needed (except the boss). For Big Guns use Bozar (in F2). Using Vindicator is a mistake. Also with Big Guns learn to position yourself (to have more enemy in line). Also the adventage of Big Guns is, that even with lesser luck (for example) you'll kill for sure (because of the massive amount of bullets). The problem with Big Guns is, that nonhostile NPCs tend to walk into your line of fire. Last edited by twillight; 11-01-2011 at 11:16 PM. Reason: typo corrected |

![]() The "best" FO2 character should be able to defeat Horrigan, his soldiers and the turrets together without using healing chems if he wants, even if they get criticals on their first attack.
The "best" FO2" character doesn't get killed instantly by an armor bypassing critical with heavy weapons, he's not a wimpy low HP character who has to exploit save/reload when this happens. The "best" FO2 character can take the perks he needs without using the drug exploit to raise stats before levelling up. A character starting with 2 EN is a wimp who has to exploit the game mechanics to be able to take lifegiver to get decent HP. |

![]() Doesn't happen anymore with Killap's Restoration Patch though, since it fixes tons of bugs still remaining with last official patch.

Who are the other characters where you can mess up the game by pickpocketing them succesfully ? |

![]() To answer why I don't mind in a firstgame low charisma in relation of companions (to reply to Yoga's topic):
- Sulik uses only close-range weapons, so he many times gets in your way, or makes himself shot to pieces by stronger enemies who have BIG guns. His main use is the talk with spirit conversations. - Dogmeat: same as Sulik, maybe better use in battles (for knockback) but no backpack. - Vic: its easy to his AI to go into "aphatetic state", meaning he won't be any use anymore (no idea if the patch fixes this). He also uses weapons with low damage (not counting Gauss Rifle, as I don't find that equipment until the very last stage), and terrible with bursting mode. Sometimes he still comes handy for repair (but he can't do everything, so you'll best him sooner or later by must). - Myron: he is weak and uninterresting. And healing is plentyful. - Leny: he tends to WALK only, and reach the party only at the end of fights. Also tedious to go with him into Vault City. His healing skill isn't too great either. - Marcus: he's also slow (no run-option at all for supermutants), and the one time I used him he had problems from the point he first ran out of ammo (he no longer used his weapons or something like that). Also have the rpobem with Vault City. - the deathclaw: forgot the name, sry. He is melee, can't wear any equipment, and his claws(! not his arms!) tends to break, what makes his attack abilities even lower. His changing of cloth is also annoying. - Skynet: very limited weapon-useage, also slow as heck. - Casidy: boring he is. - K-9: comes to party very late, melee, weak. - Robodog: lacks any ability. I think this is all. Now the fact that you'll turn at a point into a oneman-army, killing several enemies every turn from distances your company can't even see; and the fact that with a highnumber party you CAN get stuck in a corner (despite the "move away" command), 3 partymemeber by my opinion would be the optimal (and you don have to be able to have more then one to solve all the quests). Ok, in a more full playthrough I myself perfer a party of 6 (you + 5 NPC), but for begginers I think a party of four (you + 3) is the most conveniant. For kmonster: You most probably didn't read the whole post of mine about the "perfect character". You seem to missed the "there are 4 free points to spend between charisma and endurance" part, what means you'll start with 4-6 endurance instead of two. And yes, it is uncomfortable to go for the perfect character in the very beggining, but it pays of later in hugh amount. Also at level 99 you won't have to worry anymore about health... (it takes only 1-2 hour of real time only to reach level 99, so don't say it's impossible) |
