Default Hey gang. What's Gabe Knight been up to?

I feel real guilty making a whole new thread on just saying "hi", but I'll throw in some fluff to make it look like it's worth it.

Former(?) lurker here, raised on the NES, got through 16-bit before taking on PC for 10+ years with a smattering of 3d-gen systems. Currently getting with some 360 and throwing it back to the SVGA/3D days on my OLD rig. My current loves are fighting games and Japanese freeware gems; all-timers are Deus Ex, System Shock, Thief, ...that's all for now.

Other than that, anyone else besides me have the feeling that retail video games in general are finding some way back to classic form/function? Seems evident in various downloadables like Super Meat Boy and Castle Crashers, but I can't find immediate examples from modern big industry titles (besides DS and PSP). Can anyone name some?

Abandonia and fellow gamers, I can't thank you enough for being around.
