OK, this is more than enough now. Shoutbox is supposed to be used for fun. If someone posts under a false name for fun, without inflicting harm or damage on purpose, I don't see what the big deal about it is. If it is a reason for fighting, then I will remove it and all problems will be gone. Do you want me to do this or not? Its as simple as that

The ones who post in the shoutbox should realize themselves, that posting under names of others produce chaos and unsureness, so in the end no one would believe in the name of poster - maybe it would be again someone else?..
There should be a border kept. Posting once in a while under name of another to have fun is ok, but to do that often is not ok. By doing that this only destroys the reputation and fun of Shoutbox, as for posters, so for the imposter also. Isn't that obvious enough?..

I don't think it's a good idea to shut down the shout box because of few members persisting to post under other names (and using names of other active members), but if this does keep up I will be the first one to vote: YES - close the shout box.

I use it every now and then.. but i usually don't bother going through the archive to keep up with everything that's going on there :blink:

I don't know if this has been mentioned. But couldn't you make it so you don't type your name in at all?

Like when you sign in on your name, then you go and type something in the shoutbox is comes up under your name. Just like any other thread on the site.

as far as i've gotten insight into this discussion, ppl are worrying about
the possibility that the shoutbox COULD be misused for some mean intentions.

but up to now, such a situation doesn't seem to have OCCURRED in fact, yet,
if i'm not mistaken.

i'd propose, that as soon as the first person is reporting a really grave
misuse of this module, we should put up a vote about closing it down.

but as long as all concerns are merely speculative, we should hope that
forum users are responsible and honest enough to handle this "freedom of
speech" like grown-ups, and not for childish, insultive plays!
