![]() Well
I think it's nice. A small act affection. You tend to forget sometimes during normal days. So a special day to say that you like the other person is good.

![]() To all of you who hate Valentine's Day - Maybe your attitude has something to do with the fact that you are single
ANYWAY - I like Valentine's Day, but to me, it is just only one day like the others. Being fortunate that I have my loved one here every day and it is my opinion that since we show each other how much we love each other every day, 14 th of February is just one day like the others. Although I did buy him a present  But I also agree that the holdiays, like Valentine's and Chrismas, are getting way to much comertionalized! On Monday - just enjoy where ever you are, not matter if alone, or with friends, or ... |

![]() I love the 14th of february. But that's just because it's my brithday.Regarding Valentine's... what can i say; it's just a period when are expected to buy gifts. There's nothing more then that, there's not spirit. It's like Christmas without that special feeling. It's just a normal day, but with gifts and no spirit

![]() Valentines Day makes me sad, and happy.
It makes me remember back to when I was about ten years old. I made all of my classmates little Valentines cards, and I worked very hard in personalizing all of them. When I got to school that morning, I gave out my cards to everyone, very proud of myself for working so hard and not forgetting anyone. I didn't receive a single one in return. I cried all the way home that day, and my mother asked me what was wrong. When I told her, she baked the biggest heart-shaped cookie I had ever seen, and told me, "See? You have more heart than any one of your classmates." I cried again, but this time, because I was happy. I love Valentines Day in theory. In practice, it's another story entirely. |

![]() Too bad the holy day of St. Valentine\ has been turned into a feast of Konsumterror...
Sending a love-letter to your significant other is a nice thing to do (any day of the year for that matter)... and much more personal than a stupid "I love you"-card with two cuddly teddy-bear on it! |

![]() Well if you all associate love with gifts then you're right.
But Valentine's day isn't about gifts (and neither is christmas). Valentine's day has a long prechristian tradition... It was at the time when winter started fading away (and if a woman got pregnent at that time she would still be able to work on the crom feilds in the automn and would have a child during the winter). So it was wery practical to start courting rituals. So boys would go and give smoll tokens of apreatiation to girls. In the old (and I mean really old) days there weren't that many social events where you were allowed to court someone and a way had to be given for the couples to come together. This was also a way of letting a girl chose... OK, the family still had the last word, but she would at least see who likes her and give her opinion on the matter. On the more personal note - Rainwife, I'm so glad you said that, so now I won't have to worry about you being angree if I forget to surprise you (not with an expensive gift, but with a gesture that would show you I still love you). It's not that I won't try, but you know me so well it's getting really hard to pull a good surprise off. |

![]() @Sebastianos:
For me, it's not gifts, it's just putting in the effort to show someone you care. |

![]() Well I was speaking in general... Most members feel differently (at least that's the feeling I got). But that still doesn't mean I believe that everyone on Abandonia thinks Valentine's day is only about gifts...
Thanks for pointing that out though. |
