If you run Win98 or 95, it'll run just fine when you run it under there. Under XP, ME, 2K, etc, you'll need to use DosBox or VDMsound.

Which OS's it, and what's the error DosBox gives?

just my pea-size brain what couldn't figure out how dosbox works..
at first. anyway, it's an XP and things are under control.

the game looks great! did a 'practice' run and have retired in
ignominous disgrace

That's what sold me in.

Wow, couldn't believe I missed this game!

I used to play most all the Microprose titles on my trusty C=64.

A question: how do I drill my troops? I can get them to move at first but they won't engage the other troops on top of the screen. Any help would be very welcome.

Never mind, I got it. Same controls as in battle.

I wish this game could have the visuals of that old Cinemaware game, "Lords ot Rising Sun."

One little point I still have: In the Controls file one key has been forgotten:

During troop skirmishes: "r" will give a retreat command to all own forces.

Has anybody ever succeeded in founding a 300 year shogunate?
If so: What is the trick?

I believe to have optimized everything, cutting through all
resistance like a no dachi, having reached both unsurpassed
honor and generalship, an army of 12700 soldiers fed by peasants
in vast land holdings. Swordmanship is full and the heir is
(mature) aduld.

All in all this sums up to 3500 points and 200 years of reign.
However the original High Score sports a 300 year Shogunate
with score 3540.

The game I played before reached 3500, too. What am I missing?
:help:

Does anyone know how to block during a kenjetsu duel? I cannot defeat anyone I fight, other than my trainer. I read through this forum but I didn't notice anyone who knew how to block. Thanks.

How do you block in kenjutsu duels? ---

You block using the backspace key. But it is very difficult. Best just to stand in front of your
opponent permanently pressing the enter key and happily slashing away in an alternating pattern
of 4, 7, 9 and 6 on the num pad. You will be blocked most of the time but the other guy won't
find the time to retaliate and eventually some hits get through. If you do well you may even win
the 3 brethren duel without ever getting even one hit.

The 3 brethren duel... now that's a tough one to do without getting hit once, even with that trick  You seriously need alot of training for that, or you end up being humus.
