![]() Nonononono.
By formatting, you wiped out all the data on the partition. Now you need to install Windows. |

![]() There are a few bootable programs that will check your HDD for errors. Try one of those. Since they're bootable, you don't need an os. One such is Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD). Click here for UBCD link.
You could try to WIPE, or zero out your HDD. Make ABSOLUTELY SURE you know what you're doing before trying this. There are some HDD shredders around. You don't want any of those.

![]() I managed to reinstall windows, but the only way that I could get windows reinstalled on the HDD was to remove it from the computer and put into my older machine, but after I done this my computer couldn't find the HDD, but the old computer finds it straight away
I got it show the HDD at the POST screen, after that it goes to a black screen, and then the error comes up again. I plugged the HDD from the old amchine in, it's running WIN ME and it loaded it up straight away |

![]() maybe you have something wrong with jumper (where you can switch primary/secondary master, slave, autodetect..)
for example my board won't find my HDD if it's on autodetect by strange reasons, i have to set it to master manually

![]() Try another IDE cable. The one you have could be broken.

![]() Did you entered the BIOS setup of the motherboard?
If you did that, is the hdd correctly defined in there? |

![]() When I enter the BIOS it says the HDD is there, it also says it on the POST screen, but then after that it goes to a black screen and after a moment the error appears again
The IDE cable is new as I had to replace that about a month ago |

![]() This one is tricky indeed, I think it's about time you resort to a professional.

![]() Silly question: Does your new motherboard/bios fully support your HDD? I got me a 160 Gb Sea Gate but the PC was 'too old' to support it fully. Only when I got a newer machine, did I get it to work.
