![]() Recently my motherboard died and I have since had to replace it. When I turned it on I get this error, 'reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key' On start up it shows that my HDD is there, I inserted my WINXP CD, and it went straight into setup, where I can see the partition on the HDD. I can also access the BIOS and have changed the boot priority so that it loads off the HDD first, but it always goes back to a black screen with this error. Does anyone know how to fix it? |

![]() I have reinstalled windows, but I just get the error again
It doesn't say HDD-0 or HDD-1, there is just the HDD number so I selected that |

![]() ok, this may sound "weird", but can you post your hardware specifications?
Is your computer recent or is it old? is the new motherboard similar to the old one? Does this new board recognizes your hdd? |

![]() Are there any remnants of the previous installation? Remember, that during installation, the os is set up to fit the basic hardware. When the basic hardware changes, some of the old os files are no longer valid.
