I head over to Digg to check my tech news, and what do I see front page? Abandonia. Already 168 diggs. Get ready for alot of traffic cause Digg is the equivelent of slashdot. Anyway, go to the site, and digg the story, keep it on front page.

Not to disappoint, but I really don't think the traffic generated from that site could cause quite the slowdown experienced today.
AB can handle at least 90-100k/day traffic; at least, it has in the past without too much issue, and total site traffic per day has been quite a bit below that as of late. I could be wrong, it does depend on how many hits we got all at once, but I doubt it. |

Well, after reading a webmaster's responce to the Dig effect I gotta say... interesting.
Tell me you got Farked, and I know what'll happen. Tell me you got Wanged (penny-arcade) and you'll get the same effect, although I would be prouder of having a penny-arcade endorsement before a fark spamming. But when the site got Dugg and I just don't know. Never heard of it before this. And yeah, the site was lagging earlier, but (1) it seems okay now and (2) I don't see some fast increase in guest posts here. I expected game threads that had been long forgotten would be getting resurected en-masse. Maybe Dig has a vaunted idea of itself. |
