![]() Has anyone seen this guy on tv? Ive seen him and Im confused.
He makes all sorts of tricks and other weird stuff and the audience always claims it to be real. What really bothers me that he does impossible tricks, i.e : levitating, making elephant disappear, mind-reading..etc. So, is he the real-deal or is he just an imposter? I cant say. Im too confused. |

![]() What cannot be logically explaned, and has no scientific evidence of it begin true, cannot be true, or how you say "the real-deal". Hell, a stupid 14 year old gets it... so yeah.

![]() <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tulac @ Mar 18 2007, 09:36 PM) </div>

At close range, at the right angle, you can appear to be levitating by lifting yourself up on the ball of one foot, while holding the other foot level (start with your feet together). It sounds really stupid, but there are points of view where it looks like you are levitating an inch or two off of the ground. All the "pick a card" variations hinge on forcing the volunteer to pick the card that you want him to see. Magic is all about showmanship, as the illusions are all embarassingly simple. The presentation is everything, as shown by Penn and Teller's "Seven Basic Moves of Magic", or their performance of the cup and ball trick with transparent cups-- you know exactly what they are doing, but the patter keeps you interested. |

![]() I hate when people comment on all his videos stuff like, "OMG tihs is so f***in' fake hes not real he doe it all like this and you all r a bunch of n00bs and idiots for thinking hes real what a moron LOL!!!!!!!!1111!!!"
Obviously his stuff is not real, but talk about a freaking amazing illusion! I was reading about him on some magic sites, and some of the stuff he is able to do that no one else can because of his amazing body strength and control. If you've seen the guy with his shirt off you know what I'm talking about; he's huge! And I'm still confused as hell how the heck he levitated between the two buildings...I read two theories, one involving helium, and the other air jets, but both don't seem very plausible. |

![]() Yeah, I'm with Reamus on this one. I spend a lot of my time around theatres, mainly acting in them, but I also do a bit of lighting/sound/set/props/costume/directing/general lifting of heavy things, and I love stage magic. It uses lots of the equipment used for more traditional theatrical things but thinks of really clever things to do with them.
Magic on TV is another things, still some pretty cool tricks they get up to, but it's just like special effects in films. Magic on stage, with all the limitations of timing, sightlines, what you can fit around the stage, etc, impresses me hugely. |

![]() Don't know this guy, but I gather every illusionist use multiple techniques, including downright frauds if the trick demands it (mind reading). That doesn't mean he is a hoax as an illusionist. The "magic" is simply that we cannot tell for sure how he does it. Is he really of the McCoy clan or is he a bluff? Who can tell and who cares as long as we can't explain. You said "impossible tricks" but there you have it: They're tricks, and they're far from impossible: You saw the tricks work. They work and impress because you don't understand. Enjoy him

![]() I like Criss Angel because he's a good illusionist. Nobody can do real magic. A good illusionist is still impressive, because they make you think "how the hell did he do that?". This is why that show "The Masked Magician" ruins it all a bit for me.
