what was this rpg?
The basic was, that the protagonist has a sword as weapon, and cann ot change it as it is some inherent part of him or what. It was probably companion-style, aka. sentient too. All abilities related to the sword.
It looked like newerwinter nights by screenshots as far as I remember. Maybe the character was also a dragon? I don't mean the gigantic lizard one, but somwhere along the line dragon blood is mentioned? Ye, the prot. was otherwise totally human, but this way c00ler. The keywords for it seems totaly generic, so maybe humans can help?

I can remember Legacy of Kain (particularly Soul Reaver branch) with special sword, but it's neither generic, nor NWN-style.
 I can remember also Akuma (aka Lamentation Sword) that is about special sword too, but while it's like NWN, it's hardly generic too...

Definitly not Akuma.
You had no character choice, neither party. You had your protagonist and the sword. At least that's what the cover said. What can be as horseshit as the Wizardslayer's description in Baldur's Gate of course.
