![]() I'm looking for an old Dos game where you were on Mars. You would fly around in the atmosphere and you would shoot purple aliens. At some points, you could stop at these floating shops in the sky to buy stuff. Eventually, you had to build a bomb of somesort, go to the surface, and blow up a factory, which was your mission. The game was a side-scroller.
Ring any bells to anyone? I really need to know the name, or see a screenshot atleast! |

![]() Hmm not completely, the only game with mars in it's name which rings a bell to me is "Monuments Of Mars" by Apogee, but that game didn't have shops, and you only had to "bomb" the game at the end of each episode by activating a computer. If you were playing on a CGA monitor it were purple aliens though. The game was built as 20 levels of 1 screens so not a side scroller pur sang too.
Anyway you can see some screenshots here: http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/monument...meShotId,11935/ Lovely game, one of the first games I played on PC, I passed hours and hours with the shareware version. Apogee is kinda hard for their old games though as they don't allow distribution of them. I acquired the full version of the game a few years ago from a kind soul but it's pretty hard to get this game. It's even hard to download the demo of it nowadays. Apogee page even no longer mentions the game on their webpage so I'd say even if it's Apogee I call this a truly abandonded game. Is this the game you search for? |

![]() Sigh... that's not it, but thanks for the try. In the game, you'd fly around in a grey-triangular space ship type-thing.

![]() Sorry for another old thread resurrection, but this is another game that I still cannot seem to find. And no, Dave, it's not that game either. I swear I actually played this game and didn't dream it!
Any suggestions? |

![]() Was it a one-way scroller like Gradius/Darius/R-Type/etc? Or could you move back and forth like in Defender/Dropzone?
Also, how certain are you that it took place on mars? Finally, can you specify a time frame when you played this game, and a guess as to how you might have obtained it? Anyway, would you mind taking a look at these screenshots? http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/dark-moon/screenshots I doubt that is the game you're thinking of, but if you could contrast what you see there with your memories of this forgotten game, that could be a help. |

![]() The game had a side-scroller perspective but you could move up, down, left, and right. Also, when you hit the edge of the screen the game would move to the next screen (screen-by-screen movement.) I played the game around 04 or 05 but it could have come out earlier. The graphics were similar to the game you linked, but simpler.
I am almost 100% positive the game took place on Mars. I remember that being mentioned in the game text somewhere, and when you fly down to the surface to bomb that building (to win the game) I remember the ground being red. I don't remember how I obtained this game. I was probably going through old DOS game sites back in the day. Thank you for your help so far though! |

![]() If it helps any more too, I remember that the main playing screen didn't really show too much, if anything, in terms of player information.
