On another note - which gems are the best to stick in weapons and which are best in armor (helms, shields, armor). Also, what is the highest socket number you can stick in an item?

don't socket with gems...try and find some runes and make some runewords
. but if you really want to socket gems maybe you should use some perfect diamonds for your resists and idk...some skulls for lsph and msph?
