Actually I used to have a slight alcohol addiction. I got off of it by drinking tons of coffee instead. Maybe it also works for nicotine, i dont know. The trick is to get stuck on something else that is not dangerous, but will take your mind off of ciggies. There. Did I think before I spoke? I think so.

Yeah, caffeine is not totally safe to drink vast quantities of and I think that you're probably in 'unnecessary bravado mode' after getting a hammering from the general population of the forum.

You're trying to make up for it by mock-empathy and to be honest, it isn't paying off.

Smoking is good for you health!

Same goes for alcohol....

And I like to be healthy.

I used to smoke a lot, especially between 1992-95, but one morning, after almost puked my lungs out, I decided to stop. It was not hard. Soon I had way to much money on the hand, so I had to get some new games and alcohol... LOL

Also because I quit smoking, I gained a lot of weight.

So just advice to all - quiting smoking might be dangerous...

Take off! Like you aren't showing bravado. No one else on this site flames me as much as you do! Go flex your muscles at somebody else!

uh what?

I'm just trying to make the point that you really aren't helping. If it was bravado I'd be like 'Hey, I have biceps as tall as Cambrdge Cathedral' before then trying to sexually harass Puffin, like most people are in the bragging forum.

What you need is to be a little quieter around here and take a look at the posts that have been made before you arrived, to get a flavour of the site. Or flavor if you're into that.

True. I know that this isn't the CS forums, I have never been on them for a good reason.

I am trying to help and at the same time trying to stop Indignus from breaking this whole thing. I'm sorry if I have made it worse.

I,ve been smoking for about five years now and I,ll admit that i havent quite stopped smoking yet. But during the last few months i have cut down quite a lot.
I noticed it after i started going through a simple workout routine every other day or so. Now I mostly use... eh... What the heck is it called in english. Snus...
 You know... You put it under you upper-lip...
Anyhow... I mostly *snus now* (which supplies me with my need for nicotine) and keeps my lungs smokefree. I,ve gradually started usin smaller amounts of *snus* and Im seeing improvement slowly. I wont say that I dont have a cigarette now and then, but Im doing much better now than before. A good workout seems to lessen you interest in smoking (worked for me), and if you just get that itching in your fingers try shuffling a deck of cards. (Managed to keep me occupied for quite some time when i feel the urge.)
I guess I have the norwegian navy to thank for keeping me with enought time to do some workout, actually they require me to do it for one and a half hour, five days a week.

I dont know if this is any help, but I believe that if I keep at it I can overcome the urge. Good luck! k:

Smoking can only be quit if you just stop. Thats that. If you just smoke less and less or do anything that gets nicotine in your bloodstream, you just prolong your suffering!
I'm still smoking, but I know that quiting cannot be done by smoking less and less... You are going to go insane for a cigarette over time, you will be extremly angry at people for no reason and you will only strenghten your addiction by prolonging your suffering... Trust me, I've tired... and FAILED!!!
The only sure way is just STOP. Ask your friend to help you! That helps a lot!

Tell them to be more accepting towards you during that period, and keep you away from smoking when they can, like "Over my dead body, dude!" :Titan: . You will forget what you said and sweared when you are craving, so assure your compainons to be straight, even when you are saying you give up! If you can last for two weeks without *any* form of nicotine, you are considered to be lucky! k:
That means the nicotine craving will diminish, but then you must deal with the mental and reflexive craving! It is important! If you don't deal with the reflexive state of your craving, you will fail! I failed here!
Like, many smokers enjoy a draft after a delicious meal, of after...um...being with his/her beloved or if you are stressed or upset about something. You must substitute these actions with something that *not even remind you of smoking*!

If you do this, you will be cleared! It is hard and you WILL suffer a LOT, but don't give up! k:
I'm here to help anybody deciding to quit!
(then maybe you'll help me quit! )

any opinions?
