Here in England, the government are currently talking about ID cards
We've had ID cards in Europe for years now, the notion of using old bankcards as ID-cards in England is simply absurd.
 I don't remember that idea! The lastest idea is to use passports as ID cards (and have biometrics such as fingerprint and retina scans in them).

Most people think that Big Brother is the only thing that matters in 1984 but look around you. We are fighting a war that can never be won (against terror, as opposed to Eurasia) and this enemy has a face that we are all encouraged to hate as much as possible (Bin Laden, instead of Goldstein in the book).

Here you go.

It passed into the public domain in a number of countries, a couple of years ago. Just be aware that you might be breaking the law if it hasn't yet passed into the public domain in your country.
i like 1984 a lot. i have re read huxleys book brave new world a bit more often though.
as i think the soma statement is extreamely relevent in this society we have now with people on all levels of industry using varieties of prozac in order to get themselfs through the working day. both books are different sides of the same coin really.

Yeah, true. And both are coming true now, although the ID cards are 21 years too late.

The fight against terror is a battle that will never be won, due to the intrinsic natuure of the human race. The only people that are left will be the descendents of those that have gone through much hardship, many wars.

We are practically invincible as a species yet we still want to better ourselves. People who start wars and do not expect to be fought back against are fools. They need to be removed so that we have a better nation intellectually. People who do not fight back removed because of this, we need a courageous race. People who die fighting due to stupidity also need to go, so that we can become a more cunning and strong race.

Terrorism is full of cunning and strength, courage and a degree of intelligence. This is why it will never stop. All of this is human nature.

And how will you 'remove' these people, pray tell, how about we form a special police unit which monitors people and if they say anything that could harm the peace (and incite violence in any way) he or she is brought in front of a tribunal and will be locked away (removed) in the name of global security and stability. But in order to track these people down we would either need a gigantic network of information, or we could just do away with a few expendable freedoms, the ones people don't really need.
Ofcoarse the people will agree to this since it is all for their own security, we wouldn't want some warmongering madman in power, would we? The people will not see this as a breach in their privacy, it is like a parent watching over their children, a wolf over her cubs... no that sounds too authoritive, it is more like an equal looking over another equal... like a bigger brother taking care no harm comes to his little kin.
Yes, this really is the ideal intellectual utopia.

Maybe he just wants to line 'em up against the wall and *POPP* goes the weasel... LOL

@ prejudice: Do I read the anger and frustration of a not-so-appreciated wannabe-intellectual teenager there?

Murder in the name of Global Intellectualism, how delightfully paradoxical.

Well, removing those people responsible for wars should be easy:

They are taking away your freedom in the name of (Homeland) security.

Hamas was created by the Israeli government
But Hamas is a rather new group, the Palestinian authority itself used to be a terrorist/guerilla group (PLO) so did Israel create the PLO/PA aswell in order to... destroy tourism, hinder economy and pull back from territories? You've been reading too many leaflets, my friend.

And who are these elite? The rulers? There will always be rulers and thus there will always be an elite group. Writing in caps won't change that.

It's not about religion or ethnicity, Stroggy.

Religious people like you are being used by the likes of Sharon. As you have seen, he is willing to sacrifice them now they (Jewish settlers) have lost their function.

Hamas being created by the Israeli government, be it directly or indirectly, is common knowledge (BBC). Hamas is the perfect enemy for Sharon. Whenever he needs an excuse to send in the army, they (Hamas) will provide him with one by blowing up a couple of Israeli civilians.

Who are the elite?

International bankers based in... Europe. And don't give me that anti-semitic crap. Most of these bankers are not Jewish.

One thing defines these elitists/globalists: the complete lack of empathy and solidarity. That is why the Rothschildt's didn't care about the fate of their 'fellow' Jews in Europe during the Holocaust. Religion/ethnicity has nothing to do with the elitists. They are only interested in profit and they will trade with anyone, including the devil (figuratively speaking).
