Well, the thing I love about abandonia is that I know what they get each day. At least I can keep track of their progress and such. With HOTD, I don't have a clue what games they get, I just search and hope for the best.

Ads, methinks, will throw 25% of people of a site. Plus their lousy layout means I come to this place 100% of the time. Plus, I love the community here and I felt welcomed soon as I came here

*Hugs everyone*

Searching doesn't work properly on HOTU. You've gotta browse. That takes ages.

well i give some credit to Hotu for their huge Abandonware DL Database (btw. is it true that the owner of Hotu is a girl/woman?, heard that somewhere in a forum) but thats the only credit i can give to HOTU... to make it short, the main problems of hotu are, the ad's, but the the worst thing of all, they are to slow.. e.x. it takes me 1 - 1 1/2 h to d/l a 25-30 mb file (with DSL connection)

I Like Abandonia because:

It's user friendly.. like users help users.. on the forums..
It's fast.. one of the most important requirements for a good Abandonware Site (imo)
The Page`s are well designed.. smooth web design and an eye catching color scheme
Good Structure .. makes it easier to search & find the games
Heavy Updates.. i mean one update or maybe 2 per day can't be toped
Last but not least, a big community.. and a nice looking forum with alot of extensions, wich makes life here alot more easier e.x. shoutbox :bleh:

the only thing i don't like is the lack of an IRC channel.. it's obviously the next step to do.. when u have a growing and active community like here.. but thats just my humble opinion...

Actually, i think that HOTU managed to add two ames per day for six years. When archive became so big they just lost it. That should be good warning for abandonia in futue.

I naturally heard of HOTU and used them with satisfaction.

I accidentally discovoered abandonia when seeking CIV2. I was surprised with downlaod speed and working archive. Everything was smooth. Then i came back, realized that people are taking care about his site and the games so everything can work fine. It was much more than enough to convince me to start contributing.

This is also the greatest + to A and - to HOTU. Besides speed which is important, i find id devastating for my brain to download game for hours to find out that archive doesn't work.

This will surely bring lot of people to abandonia in future. Nowdays kids just don't have patience. On abandonia everything works fast and is working

And did i mentioned people around here? No? Well, let's leave it that way :bleh:

Yes. Underdogs is a Thai woman living in Bangkok. If memory serves me correctly, she is in her mid-thirties.

Well, I never found any games not working on HoTU and I,for one, am I child and have the patience to wait, because there is a 50% chance for a game not to work on my computer do to it being very old (the computer), so I just click on download and I go to the TV. The only thing I don't like is the time needed to log on to hotu forums.
