Doesn't this game take long boring hours (5-6 at least) out of your time. That is why I don't like Civ.
It takes a long time to play a complete game, yes (although the game speed is variable), but it's turn-based, so you can play for two minutes or two days. As far as being boring, well, that's a matter of personal preference. A shooter it ain't.

Heh, looks like I managed to leave you with a pretty dull set there - sorry

Turn 1 - 2400 BC:

Archery researched, start on Bronze Working, due in 6 turns. Settler finished, heads towards the stone-poaching spot. MM Madrid to get Stonehenge in 8 turns. Meet a couple of Washington's scouts from the southeast.

Turn 5 - 2200 BC:

Barcelona founded to nick the stone and secure more lake tiles. I put it 2 tiles away from the stone in order to get the rice which would otherwise be wasted.

Turn 6 - 2150 BC:

Bronze Working discovered, and we have no visible copper - more scouting needed! Start on Priesthood so we can get on with The Oracle and grab Metal Casting, which needs Iron Working (which might also provide Iron as a bit of an alternative to copper, although it doesn't speed the colossus).

Turn 10 - 2000 BC:

Stonehenge completed in Madrid. Woo! Set the city to build an archer since I just spotted a barbarian warrior in the south, and alter its worked tiles to get it growing again - note that it'll hit its happiness limit next time it grows, so we should stop any further growth when that happens. Priesthood completed, and I realise that Metal Casting actually requires Pottery (which we need the wheel for) - some worker techs will be necessary soon anyway, we're behind on that front. I propose that Madrid build a worker after its archer, then probably the Oracle unless you think we should squeeze out another settler in between. We'll need to found our next city on the coast if we want it to build the colossus - the hills to the east of Madrid look like a nice, high production area, so a city 1 tile east of the cows should do the trick.

Asoka founds a city near the poached stone in the west, but our culture will soon have him regretting it:

You can also see the world map as revealed by Stonehenge in the bottom right.

If Asoka asks us to open borders, we should refuse - our culture is going to pin him in that tiny area of land, and that's where we want to keep him until we can organise an army to wipe him out at some point in the future.

This turnset should be a bit more interesting for you, with any luck

OMG! Ive got Civ 4, and id love to play it online with real people, but for some reason its just so SLOW. :ranting: GRAH its so frustrating!, it takes ten minutes to make one ONE simple move. And thats just on normal play, online would be horrible, there'd be such a lag. Im sorry i would but you'd be waiting half an hour everyday for me...

Here we go...

Pre-Turn:
MM Madrid to get Archer in 3 turns rather than 4.

Turn 3: 1850BC
Research: The Wheel complete. Researching Pottery (4).
Archer completed in Madrid. Building worker (7).
Fortified archer in Madrid.

Turn 4: 1800BC
Archer completed in Barcelona. Building scout.
Barcelona's borders expand. Stone is inside borders now.

Somewhere in here:
Washington converts to Judaism.

Turn 7: 1650BC
Research: Pottery complete. Researching Iron Working (11).
Scout completed in Barcelona. Building Granary.

Turn 10: 1500BC
Worker complete in Madrid. Building The Oracle (14).
Sent worker to gems and began mining.
Exploring...

Overview:

I didn't get much exploring done, but I trained that scout so that we could get it done a little faster. Feel free to change the research or city production if you'd prefer. Note that Madrid is not growing right now, since my MM at the beginning of my turn, so it can still accommodate one more happy person. Also note that we're losing money and don't have much left.

I'm a little worried about what's going to happen here. These guys have been in the wilderness a long time...

Granary in Barcelona? I might change that, not sure. We should adopt Judaism as state religion if it's spread to America - apart from the LOS bonus, it'll help us control the liberal media

Right, here we go again:

IHT - 1500 BC:

Switch research to Animal Husbandry - those lovely cows near Madrid are getting all wasted! Switch us over to Judaism with no anarchy - gotta love being Spiritual!

T1 - 1450 BC:

Apparently, we're the most advanced - sweet! Asoka's got 3 cities in total, but our culture should be able to snag the new ones without too much effort if we're lucky.

T4 - 1300 BC:

AH researched and a pasture started on the cows. We're now working the gems for big $$$ (well, mainly lots of flasks of research, actually). Iron Working research resumed.

T5 - 1250 BC:

Switch Barcelona to a worker, due in 8 turns.

T8 - 1100 BC:

Some iron near Madrid - w00t!

Less w00ty is the fact that our scout in the East is about to get spodded by those barbs

My pizza arrives.

T9 - 1050 BC:

Hatty founds Heliopolis North of Madrid, pretty much where I'd planned on putting a city given the chance - another culture flip victim, here we come!

T10 - 1000 BC:

Overview shot:

Looking pretty good. We could use another settler after the Oracle's done, to head to the sign-marked site North of Madrid. The capital's becoming a real powerhouse, which is always nice - a huge culture is very handy on the cramped Old World of Terra maps.

Pre-Turn:
Looks good.

Turn 1: 960BC
Warrior fends off barbarian warrior SE of Madrid. Fortified until healed.
Asoka offers open borders. We politely decline, then flip him the bird when he's not looking.
Washington adopts Organized Religion.

Turn 2: 920BC
Research: Sailing completed. Researching writing (due in 3).
MM Madrid to delay completion of Oracle until after writing is researched.

Turn 3: 880BC
Mine completed @ iron E of Madrid. Set worker to build road there.
Worker completed @ Barc. Sent toward stone. Granary resumed.

"I don't know what hammering on these piles of wood is supposed to accomplish, but when the boss says hammer, we hammer!"

Turn 5: 800BC
Research: Writing completed. Researching alphabet (due in 9).
Granary completed @ Barc. Building library (due in 15).
Iron mine completed E of Madrid.

Turn 6: 760BC
Oracle completed in Madrid. Chose Metal Casting as free tech after much waffling. Building settler (due in 6).

Turn 9: 640BC
Moses born in Madrid. Constructed Temple of Solomon there.
Barbarians approaching Madrid from E. Now training axe for defense.

Turn 10: 600BC
Second barbarian warrior appears E of Madrid.
Worker builds road W of Madrid (to eventually connect to Barc). Recalled worker to Madrid due to barbarian threat.
Quarry completed near Barc. Worker now building road there.

Overview:

You can see the two barbarian groups E of Madrid if you look closely.

Notes:
*I'm afraid I didn't respond quickly enough to the first barb group, and they'll probably pillage that iron mine before we can do much about it. Hopefully the city will hold, though. (That barb group has two promos, if I recall.)
*Should we switch to Organized Religion, or is the upkeep too much at the moment?
*Is that road that I started W of Madrid even necessary to connect the two cities, or will the river serve the same function for those two squares?
* If we can connect the quarry to Madrid, we can build the Pyramids there fairly quickly (16 turns, I think).

Ahaah, Mr. Pie is going to get flattened by some barbarians, teehee.

Oh, and build the Pyramids, always try to get the Pyramids before anyone else, it's a great early boost.
If it'll use up too much resources, I suggest you lay it off for awhile, I've built Wonders several times only to find that the next building I need would take several turns when I was in a dire situation.
