![]() for 600EUR your can get a very good computer with monitor. might not be brand name but who needs that... 600EUR shouldn't be so hard to save.
another thing for my current computer this is what i did: 1. make a plan on how to bring the money i spent back. 2. since i had a knowledge i decided to do 2 things. i had some little money saved. one was to help my cousin edit a book and second one was to create a homepage. 3. I checke dmy price range and how much i could earn. it was enough to get P2 400Mhz with very good ATI graphics card and some other neat stuff. 4. i then borrowed the money from my father and bought the computer.. 5. i did my plan (with my brother) and we both earned enough after about 2 months of summer work to repay about 70-80%. the rest was payed by my father because he was a user of new computer as well. nowadays (unless you want to play oblivion & other newest games) you will do very good with a computer that costs 600 EUR. so earn the money and buy it. why bother parents with it?

![]() Well, children often do things to con their parents out of something. But the parents aren't stupid - if they buy it, they buy it so the child can have it (the lay is just that last final push that helps them decide). Still it's not a good strategy.
It's not advisable to fool your parents like that by sabotaging your own computer, but on the other hand - if something like a new computer could ruin the trust between the parent and a child then there wasn't a lot of trust there in the first place. It's your call. You should know your parents best. If they can afford it you should try to get them to buy one (let's say if that would mean they won't be able to get that extra 15th day on their two week summer vecation). But if they can't afford it (meaning they'd have to resort to eating food in a can for the next month because they'd buy the computer) then stick with this one. You should be the judge of the situation - as none of us know your parents (or even you personally for that matter). |

Nice im thinking about buying 7900 gtx. <!--QuoteBegin-titan Get a job, save the money instead of spening it, and buy it.. I saved my allowance when i was 9 for a long time to buy my first computer, Amiga 500.. When it was starting to get outdated, i started working during the summer-leave, sorting strawberries, and saved up some 1200€ and bought my first 486. When i needed a new, i started saving again..... Nothing comes for free. It's better to learn the value of money early and feel the satisfaction that YOU bought this, and noone can take it away from you.[/quote] exactly what i did saved money for 5 month's and voila brand new pc. |

One screenshot of her screen with the IM open. Set as the wallpaper. And the real IM turned off. LOL It took her a few minutes to figure out, but sure like hell was funny. If you really need something nasty. I've got an animated GIF somwhere around here... It informs of a format of the C: drive being currently in progress. Another thing might be... replacing the MBR on the drive. 1. First copy that data to another drive or a floppy. (SYS C A). Then overwrite the MBR with one from another machine, preferably with a different version of Windows. 2. OK, so the PC doesn't boot. 3. Tell your parents you have an idea how to fix it. 4. Restore the MBR (SYS A C) from the floppy you backed it up onto. Next time you are on the machine, repeat the process. Or mess with the BIOS. Set all the HDDs to "not installed". The PC won't boot. Now, back to being serious... just tell your parents a simple fact. PC's have the operational lifespan of their components - that's hard drive, graphics, soundcard, motherboard... about everything, really... calculated for 10 years at best. Your machine is older than that. Inform them that because it is so, this PC can suffer a total failure anytime now. And tell them that a second-hand PC that will last a while longer can be bought pretty cheap. Don't ask for too much. Altough a "contrast" strategy will work wonders. Go to an online coputer store that allows you to calculate the price of desired hardware specs. Go a bit over the top. Show that to your parents as a "normal" modern-day machine. Then show them that there are second hand computer that are still better then the current one and will cost less then a tenth of the price of a new one. Other then that, you can also tell them that if you get a new PC, you will move all your games and stuff there, so that they'll have the other PC all for themselves. Else... try convincing your parents to buy a newer machine and tell them that they can sell the current one to cover some of the costs. You can find people who wouldn't mind paying a bit more then the machine is really worth. You could get something like 50-100% more then the true worth of the PC, if you talk right - just don't get greedy, cause nobody is going to buy an oldschool machine for $250 (which happens to be a price some retard wanted for a really old P 150... LOL ). Also, remember that you can still use the old monitor. That cuts the cost a bit. If that won't work... you can always buy second-hand bits for your current machine. A second hand HDD, graphics card and soundcard compatibile with it shouldn't cost you more then $30 total. But it might be that your family just cannot afford any new machine. Live with it. I got a new machine only when the old broke... and you know what? I don't f***ing care I've got 1,75 Ghz CPU, 128 MB GPU, 1 GB of RAM and 430 GB of HDD space (that's after some very recent RAM and HDD upgrades). I still miss the old thing. |

![]() It's okay, Playbahnosh, you made your point. Nobody said you wanted him to damage the thing. They're criticising that you suggested he manipulated it. You said yourself that he would fake a break down. That, at least to my eyes, is a very good reason not to trust a person.

No it was not. I take honesty seriously and have done so since I was about ten. Faking the damage is not cunning, it is lying. Lying is wrong, and I personally find advocating lying to be worse. |

![]() To use the autoexec.bat I had up for download to fake a stuffed pc.
1.Save a copy of the old autoexec.bat to a floppy and a copy of the xcopy command which you may be able to download or find in c:\windows\command\. 2. Delete the old autoexec.bat 3. Download the edited on save it to the root of drive c: or whatever your bootdrive is. 4. Reboot 5. The computer will say that it has a bad harddrive and go to the dos prompt. 6. To restore the old autoexec.bat copy it using xcopy from the floppy using the command prompt. Note this file was desghined for win95. If you read this post you will be all right. |

![]() This is too much. You sound like a 5-year-old who was just told that it was wrong stealing that toy from his best friend. If ribell tells you something about family values, you should listen, just as if it were your own parents, friends or whatever telling you. You defended your point, and now you're done.
