Not in the foreseeable future.

The soonest it could _technically_ qualify is early 2008.

That, however, is if Vivendi does not publish a re-release as they have recently been doing with other Sierra games.

That sword fight is a B#$%^ on a modern machine... you can set the difficulty way down to pass it I belive.
Also, Coursegold was also the town Sierra Online inhabited back in the day this game was made. I actually got to be in the 2nd Gabriel Knight game! At the end, in the opera house I'm the stage hand with lots of hair whose back is turned towards you

too late, just finished that about a month ago , I only vaguely remember the stagehand. Ace game though

Uhm... No.

The game is heavily protected by ESA and Vivendi Universal. We ain't gonna put that up and risk a lawsuit.

[/b]
I'm sure you can find the game as a torrent or maybe through some sharing network. I doubt they'd sue anybody for sharing a game that's this unappreciated by the company...even if it is ESA protected. Half-Life I could understand, but not a game genre that the company has chosen to ignore. To me, the ESA warning is pretty much just a way to keep users angry  and jealous of others who were lucky enough to get the game (illegally or legally).

And if a suit did happen, it would bring publicity (hopefully the ones being sued would make a commotion) and that would maybe cause fans everywhere to speak out against Sierra's stupid policy of not re-releasing its old Sierra/Dynamix games. :ranting:

I recently bought the Space Quest collection, hopefully we'll see a Quest For Glory collection and a "Miscellaneous" games collection too (for the games like Willy Beamish, Gold Rush, Freddy Pharkas, The Incredible Machine, and others). Oh well, I guess I can just keep looking in the meantime. Too bad I wasn't looking for the game in 2003 when it was easier to find.

They would.

It saddens me to see that you don't understand jack what ESA is about. This game would still be downloadable if we didn't receive a "cease and desist" paper from them. Choice was simple: we take down ALL games copyrighted by ESA members within 24 hours or they take down the entire site along with the staff members.
Since that time, we have managed to come to a degree of understanding with ESA, resulting in the 15 and 10-year protection periods on the games copyrighted by their member and subsidiary companies.

It wouldn't bring publicity, just closing the site down, possibly a federal investigation, and a whole heap of trouble for the site owner and all people who help him run it.

You might want to e-mail Sierra/Vivendi and ask them whether they intend to re-release this game.
If they don't, it may regain its AW status as soon as next year (when the 15 year protection period expires). :brain:
Heck, that could actually happen even sooner if someone knew the actual premiere date for it.

I wouldn't say it's that hard to find -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FREDDY-PHARKAS-Front...VQQcmdZViewItem

yeah , it's US but for $5 it isn't gonna cost all that much and currently no bidders and at least you get the box !

economy class postage - US $5.35 so not too bad as £5 approx total

I'd never even heard of this game before I came here, interesting as it uses the same control method as the popular quest games, have been playing it for a little while and wondered why I never heard of it back in the day...must have gone under the radar.

Default Speech

Hi

I'm searching high and low for a speech add-on or pack for this download. I take it it doesn't exist. Alternatively is the CD version available anywhere for download ?

Thanks.
