Hi Paco
1) Yes, as I have now realised, thanks. However.....
What on earth do they have a "contact us" email link for, if they do not bother to look at or respond to emails sent to them via their own "contact us" link?
2) I have just now had a chance to have a good look at how you formatted my Veil of Darkness document, Paco - very smart job, thanks so much for doing that!!!
Regards and thanks once again

Hello anyone
Can someone who really has solid knowledge about the following please advise: what are the ethics and laws surrounding the offering of a walkthrough to more than one site.
i.e. can I offer my walkthrough that is on one site, to another as well.
I do see some walkthroughs on several sites at the same time, but do not know the "rules" re this!!!
Regards
Wendy

A glance at the bottom of your posted -(and excellent !! congrats)- walkthrough shows:
Quote:
This walkthrough may NOT be distributed without the written permission of Mr. Bill
He's hosting your work, he put effort in it, he gave space on his server, so politeness would be:
Ask Mr.Bill permission to host it here aswell? Would be the safiest thing to do.

That's how I think about it.
It's a bit as my boss with the work I do, he owns it, even if I do all the work.

Excuse me, but that's perverse. She wrote the walkthrough, it's her work (and it's not - in no way - like with the relation to a boss). He should be grateful to be allowed to host it. And it's common practice to give creations like walkthroughs (stuff that should be shared via many sites; general stuff for a general use, not specific stuff for a specific use [read: site]) to multiple sites - except when you promised not to do this. Of course he can always be offended (if he is a child) and take your walkthrough down, but will he do this? I don't want to encourage you to play guerilla with him, I only want to show the ultimate that can happen. To ask him doesn't cost a thing, and you can give the walkthrough to other sites even if he says no (but then you took a more complicated way - a perverse one). I wouldn't ask because I think it's silly (I wouldn't even think about it), but that's just me. You can see a good example not far from here - Abandonia: Kosta reserves the right to host your stuff (at Abandonia - if I would feel, it isn't Abandonia anymore, and I couldn't stand behind or tolerate the change, I would demand a removal of my works), but you are allowed to post it everywhere else, of course.

I wouldn't take it that easy... there are sites out there that claim anything you upload as their property. Especially sites that deal with texts, literature or something. So, in my opinion, it depends on the particular policy of the according site and if one agreed them by registering.
So it would be the best to ensure that the disputable site haven't got a barefaced policy like that...

They may own THAT electronic copy of the work but unless they paid for it or were given the copyright the author is free to do as he/she wishes with the original.

Not if the user approves the policy in which he gives away all his rights to that particular copy...

Hi everybody
Thanks a stack for all your responses re the walkthrough matter. I yesterday sent an email to "mrbill" asking if he objects to my giving the Armaeth walkthrough to Abandonia to also host, and that I would look into whether Abandonia will allow him to host the Veil of Darkness walkthrough I gave Abandonia.

Hi Luchsen,
See above : please advise me clearly : if "mrbill" agrees to let Abandonia host the Armaeth walkthrough, can I give him the Veil of Darkness walkthrough I already gave to Abandonia (sorry Luchsen, I did not understand that part of your posting).

(I do agree that I am the author of both walkthroughs and have some right to give them to whoever I want, seeing that I did not sign any agreement restricting me in either case, however I do believe in honour and trying to be fair to the people I deal with).

Regards to all
Wendy

You seem to have missed some keywords Luchsen.
