Yeah, the scoring system is a joke really - too many childish people who are voting a 1 because it *looks* old or bad or especially if it can't be downloaded.

My favorite game, Beneath A Steel Sky, deserves at LEAST a 4/10. On HOTU I believe it had a 8.5/10 or so. I think the fault lies with the fact that everyone can vote even if they're not logged in. This invites many people who aren't serious about old games to vote 1. As a result, I'm forced to vote 5/5 on nearly every game I like just to try and get that rating up to where it should be. I mean jesus, Monkey Island 2 got a 3.7.

I don't even bother looking at the your score bit anymore, its far too inaccurate. I agree with red_avatar, registration should be required, in case people like my little brother come and vote with opinions based on the screenshots.

There's no reason to care about the individual ratings on AB, there are some absolutely atrocious games on this site with good scores, and good games with bad scores. It really doesn't matter all that much.

I disagree: a score is a good way for someone to decide whether to try a game IF the scores are reliable and on AB, they aren't AT ALL. The system easily be changed by removing the vote option for unregistered members.

a) it would encourage more people to sign up and might bring more life to the forum
b) it would stop idiots from randomly voting 0.

Remember the ancient Hot or Not website? It let you see the kind of votes someone got and you saw a lot of good looking girls & guys getting loads of zeroes. It's indeed the way the internet works - people can be jealous or petty or childish.

Slight adjustment: The people who did that deserve to use Vista forever at a horrible place that even would be a horrible place when they wouldn't have to use Vista there at all.

If commenting would be a little easier (not every noob knows how to enter forum) probably not only the score would be as it is. Also we would have a lot of comments like: "it is crap", "I love it", "I love Kate" "lol, I can write" ... It's the way the Internet works nowadays. There was a thread about it somewhere, probably created by Mighty Midget and was about commenting movies on YouTube at the beginning.

Maybe number of posts is somewhat connected to quality of game? You know - if it is good there is a lot to talk about ... someone could check it
